Six Screensavers That Run in a Browser Tab
Pick a scene, press Start fullscreen, and leave it running. Nothing downloads and nothing installs: each scene is drawn live by your graphics card, so it never loops and never shows the same frame twice.
The Scenes
- Star Nest - a slow flight through dust and stars. The one to leave on in a dark room.
- Moonlit Sea - a full moon over calm water. Almost nothing moves, and most of the screen stays black.
- Open Ocean - a low sun over rolling waves. The brightest and busiest of the six.
- Distant Galaxy - one spiral galaxy, turning, on a black sky.
- Color Melt - saturated color flowing like hot wax. Good on a TV across the room.
- Marble Drift - cool blue marbling that folds over itself.
Want the original? The DVD Screensaver is still here, corner counter and all.
What You Can Change
- Speed slows a scene to a crawl or doubles it.
- Color shift turns the whole palette around the color wheel.
- Quality trades sharpness for battery. On Auto the picture steps down by itself if the device cannot keep up.
- Stop after fades to black when the time is up and lets the display sleep.
- In fullscreen, the left and right arrow keys change scene, the mouse wheel dims the picture, and a click or Escape leaves.
Your choices are remembered in this browser, so the page opens the way you left it.
A Browser Tab, Not an Installed Screensaver
This page cannot start by itself when your computer goes idle - only your operating system can do that. It plays for as long as the tab stays open and in front, and it pauses when you switch to another tab or minimize the window. For a TV, a spare monitor, a waiting room or a party, open it, go fullscreen, and walk away.
OLED and Burn-In
A screensaver exists to keep the picture moving, and these do. Two honest notes if the panel is OLED: Moonlit Sea keeps its moon in one place, and Distant Galaxy keeps a bright core near the center. For an evening that is nothing. For all day, every day, pick Star Nest, Color Melt or Marble Drift, or set the stop timer. If you are checking a panel that already shows a mark, use the burn-in test on Screen Test.
If a Scene Stutters
Set Quality to Battery saver first; it quarters the work. Open Ocean is the heaviest of the six, so try another scene before giving up. To see what your device can actually sustain, run the browser performance test. All six scenes come from the larger effects gallery there.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a real screensaver?
It is a fullscreen animation in a browser tab. It looks and behaves like a screensaver while it is open, but it cannot start by itself when the computer goes idle - only the operating system can do that. Open the page, press Start fullscreen, and it runs until you leave.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. The scenes are drawn in the browser with WebGL2, which every current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox supports. If your browser does not, the page says so and points you to the DVD Screensaver, which needs no graphics support at all.
Can I use it on a TV?
Yes, if the TV has a browser, or if a laptop, stick or console is plugged into it. Open the page, start fullscreen, and set Stop after if you do not want it on all night. Smart-TV browsers are slow: choose Battery saver quality if the picture stutters.
Will it stop my screen from going to sleep?
Only if you leave Keep screen awake ticked, and only while the scene is fullscreen and visible. When the stop timer ends, the page goes black and lets the display sleep normally.
Is it safe for an OLED screen?
For normal use, yes: every scene moves. Moonlit Sea and Distant Galaxy keep one bright shape roughly in place, so for many hours a day prefer Star Nest, Color Melt or Marble Drift, or use the stop timer.
Why did it pause when I changed tabs?
Browsers stop animation in tabs you cannot see, and this page stops drawing on purpose as well, so a hidden tab costs no battery. It picks up where it left off when you come back.
